Glen Echo Park

Our home school group took a field trip to Glen Echo Park in Maryland. We took a class at the Discovery Museum, went on a hike, ate lunch and then rode the carousel. Meagan got to see a crested gecko, an African hissing cock roach and a boa constrictor. To my surprise she wasn't afraid of any of them.

Mikaela is 17 Months

Our baby girl is 17 months old. Where has the time gone?? She just sarted walking and is enjoying the freedom it brings her. She also likes to sit in chairs, read books and play with her dolls. I almost forgot, climbing is also one of her new skills.

Playing Ball with Daddy

Mikaela loves to play with balls. This day she and daddy were playing out in the back yard. OOps, she fell over!

How Does Your Garden Grow?

We planted a garden this year and Meagan was very excited. We planted corn, carrots, snap peas, beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, strawberries and lettuce. So far so good - we'll see what happens in the next month.

A New Family Member

We have a new furry member of our family. A fuzzy ferret named Bandit. The girls love him and he is growing on me.

Sooo Sleepy

Mikaela only takes one nap a day so sometimes she gets sleepy before lunch is over. This day she fell asleep with a bite of cheese still in her mouth.

Classical Conversations is Over for Another Year

Meagan has finished her second year of Classical Conversations (our home school coop). She had a great time at the year-end event where she was in the paper airplane flying contest and the egg keeper contest(a container with an egg in it that's dropped from about 6 feet). Her airplane made it to the final round and her egg keeper passed with flying colors. She enjoyed learning all the history songs, the art and the science experiments. We still have some worked to do at home before we will be done with 1st grade. We had some struggles along the way, but we both enjoyed this year.

Sweet Mikaela

Mikaela is 16 Months

Our sweet baby is 16 months old. She has 8 teeth and moves around all over the place. She isn't walking quite yet, but she is very close. She is saying a lot of words, but not putting them together yet. She is a happy smiley baby who loves to read books and play with babies.

A Store in Her Room

Meagan loves clothes, putting outfits together and shopping. She decided to make a store in her room and then model some of the outfits. She is our little fashion diva.

The Art of the Fan

One of Meagan's favorite movies is Princess Diaries. In the movie, the queen shows Princess Mia how to use a fan. Meagan decided to give it a try.

I Can Feed Myself

Mikaela has been eating table food for months and now she wants to feed herself. She does pretty well with her cereal and a spoon. She's a little messy but has fun!

Nine Months Old and Counting

At nine months Mikaela is starting to crawl. Not a normal crawl but on her belly and pulling with her arms. It's amazing how strong she is. She also has a new word "dada" which she says all day long. Meagan wants to know when she is going to learn a new word like maybe her name.

Bird Watching

Meagan is really enjoying observing the birds in our back yard this year. Every time she sees a new bird I take a picture and we try to figure out what type of bird it is. This is her favorite bird. He and his mate have spent a good amount of time at our bird feeder.

The first day of 1st grade

Meagan started first grade this fall. We are still home schooling and enjoying it very much. Most of our school work is done during Mikaela's morning nap and we finish up in the afternoon if necessary. We still go to a weekly coop where Meagan is in class with 7 other girls her age. My time is spent between helping in her class and in the nursery with Mikaela. Meagan's favorite subjects so far this year are History and Science.

Happy Birthday Auntie & Kailtin

We went down to Suffolk to celebrate 2 birthdays. We had cake after Ryan's football practice for Auntie and then out to dinner the next night. Kaitlin had a pool party for her birthday. Meagan wishes her birthday was in the summer so she could have a swimming party too. Meagan had fun swimming and Mikaela hung out poolside with mommy.
